Use one or the other type of event depends on the goals set and initial conditions of the sourcing event.
Commercial event - is a sourcing event where a competitive bidding process takes place and a winner must be selected.
Type:
multi-attribute auction - is an event in which the winner is the one who, according to the conclusions of the tender commission, will provide the best offers. It is used when the customer is prepared to consider both prices and delivery terms, as well as other conditions as part of offers;
reverse auction - is an event in which the supplier who offered the lowest price wins. It is used in cases where the customer's goal is to get the desired product on their terms but at the lowest cost;
sealed-bid auction -is an event similar to the multi-attribute auction with one difference: to reduce the risk of corruption and unfair competition from the customer's employees, the offers of the potential suppliers are hidden from the customer until the sealed bids are opened.
Non-commercial event - is the customer's request for information from its potential suppliers. No obligation, it can be completed without selecting a winner.
